I left for Thirupati with my parents on Sunday afternoon by train. The timing of the train was 13.50 hrs and as usual the train was half an hour late. I reached Thirupati station at 17.45 hrs. Relatives from my father’s side planned for this trip and they booked for rooms. We arrived before others and were to go to the rooms allocated. But that was the beginning of the problems. The guy who was supposed to book the rooms said that he booked the rooms but the authorities canceled the rooms as special people were expected to arrive (They said some weird thing).
Rooms allocated to most people were canceled for this reason and so we went for some lodge and it was horrible. Rent was too much for three rooms which were not even fully finished. Me and my parents decided to go and have dinner in a three star restaurant (don’t remember it well). It was Bhima Residency and the name of the hotel which was below this residency was Mohini hotel. My parents ordered for South Indian Thali and I went for Noodles. They charged extra for mineral water I guess because they asked whether we need regular water or mineral water!!! And then another unexpected thing happened. Insect came from my noodles!!! Now a days the quality is degrading in many places but the cost is increasing like hell!
My relatives arrived at 4.45 in the morning and started to get ready to reach the temple for dharishanam. Few decided to walk to the top with the young ones. So we started to walk at 7.45. There were around ten totally who preferred walking. In that ten the group split into three. I was with my cousin brother ahead of most of them. Then second group had my cousin sisters and my aunt and the last group had my parents with another cousin sister and Aunt. I decided to wait for the second group. We waited for the last group but they were far behind. So we decided to move on and meet them at the top when they reach there and they came at around 13.30 hrs.
Then we went to get dharishanam of God. We waited in a long queue for around 5 hours to get the dharishana. I got a GREAT result for waiting in the line for hours! I saw the God just for a second or so and the volunteers started pushing me to go away with others. While returning all the members of my uncle’s family got fever and cold as the climate was low there and none of them have ever been used to that climate.
I have decided not to go to Thirupati ever in my life without proper planning and especially in holidays as the crowd will be like hell and people also behave as if they are pathetic. Few were fighting in line. They will never change. But I enjoyed the walk to the top because there were lot of good things to see. I saw a bunch of Deers while walking and few spots were really nice to see from the top. But I wont go there again ever! Phew.
I’ll post the photos in another post as this one is already a big one and I think I’ve never posted anything so big! lol

Going to thirupathi planned or not is one big headache. The crowd is always like that shoving and pushing.
@ Adithya
You are right. But getting room before hand is better. We got the rooms but in the dying seconds they cancelled it for some weird reason.
That sucks. Still thirupathi crowd is reason enough to avoid the place. Their ladoos are good though.
No Wonder u witnessed a huge crowd. Its always there and especially those “Golti” ass holes will be more annoying. Ya Me too Enjoyed climbing Up., We started by 03.00 Hrs in the Morning and reached top by 7.00 Hrs.. Wonderful Ambiance all the way. Tirupathi is One good place except for the swarm of People.
@ Adithya
well I guess it wont be that much crowded during july.
Well if we see the crowd then we cant go to most of the places.
@ Visu
Well I too enjoyed the side show a lot. It was lot more better than the temple show.
Insect noodles ? Were you in China or Thirupathi ?
As far as the queues, the shoving and pushing around goes, India will never change. Crowds is not a big deal if it’s managed well.
So Vinod, the all important question is did you or did you not get your head shaved ?
well…thirupathi has to be a single day trip….no staying anything, just go visit, have a dharshan and come back…that makes ur trip better and safe
@ Karthik
Hehehe. I am not a fool to do that. Already my hair is in very good condition and I am not in the mood to spoil it any further.
@ Harish
Well you are gatherer and thats why you can manage it in one day. But I cant because I am not a gatherer like you.
is lord venkateshwara a gatherer?
@ Harish
Nope. May be he is but not like you. Lol
